Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout for Wii Fit
My Fitness Coach looks like a fun game from the reviews on Amazon.com, however it doesn’t utilize the Balance Board. While I don’t require that any Wii fitness games use the balance board to the extent that the Wii Fit does, it would be nice for it to make some use out of it. At the least I’d like to be able to track my weight loss progress in the game.
Due to the lack of current fitness games available for the Wii there is a large market segment available for someone to take advantage of. A number of images of Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout have been made available and we can identify a number of the games features from them. First and foremost, the game style seems to be very similar to the Wii Fit. There will be a number of the same cardiovascular exercises that you mastered in the Wii Fit. Look for it to include running, wii fit boxing. and jump rope.
| There is also a screen shot that shows that you will be able to track your calories burned. This is a feature that has been lacking from Wii Fit and is crucial for anyone serious about using the Wii fit for fitness. When this game comes out at the end of March I look forward to be able to complete a workout and track my calories burned on Spark People, or another weight loss site. | ![]() |
Since I know I’m going to purchase the game when it comes out anyway I decided to go ahead and pre-order it from Amazon.com. They have a special deal if you pre-order and it only ended up costing me $29.99 and it has free shipping. I’ve pre-ordered games from Amazon.com in the past and they’ve always arrived very quickly.
*UPDATE*
Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout is now available everywhere. If you’re interested in other games that use the Wii Balance Board be sure to check out my EA Sports Active Review.
Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout – $27.99

I just pre-ordered it from Amazon and I can’t wait until it arrives! Your enthusiasm convinced me that I need this game!
I’m glad to hear you liked my article. I’ll continue to post about any news I hear on the Wii Fit and Golds Gym Cardio Workout. When it comes out you’ll have to let us know what you think of it. I’m sure I’ll end up doing an in depth review when it’s finally released.
I have been looking for games utilizing the fit board too, and this does look like it could be promising if it does. I’m not preordering it until more info is out about it though.
If it only uses the board to weigh in like fitness coach, I’ll likely not get it, unless it really gets some exceptional reveiws on the boxing workout. The rythem boxing on wii fit is my favorite thing to do, but is the exact same sequenses, and doesn’t progress to being any harder or faster pased, just longer.
Would really like to see games that expand off the Wii fit program for a bit more of a work out. Even if it was just a second disk that worked off the saved Wii fit stats (since if you install the fit channel you can even do the body test with out the disk…..could just have a second disk with a different set of training exercises). The calories counting would be nice, but other then that, wii fit does keep track of stats well.
Thanks for the comment, the rhythm boxing is my favorite exercise on the Wii Fit too! I really feel like I got a workout after doing the 10 minute routine a couple of times. Like you, I really wish there was some more variety in it. The Wii Fit game is a great way to show off what you can do with the Balance Board, but there isn’t really enough content in it for it to hold my interest for long.
I wish I could motivate myself to do the weight training exercises more, but they just seems so boring to me. I spend so much time listening to the trainer each time that it gets annoying. I think what the Wii Fit needed is more features to unlock. It would be nice if it was more like Mario Kart Wii where you can play for hours and still not unlock everything.
I pre-ordered Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout because I really need some more variety in my Wii Fit routine and I figure for $30 it will give me at least a few hours of game play. Plus I really want to write an in depth review on it, so you can look forward to that just as soon as it arrives.
I found your site on google, great site, keep it up. Will return in the future. Submitted this post to Google News Reader.
So its April now – has the game arrived? Any review? I haven’t purchased it or the Wii yet – I was hoping to read up on whether this made sense (and was a way I could justify buying a Wii to my wife…)
Any thoughts on the Wii fitness programs???
Greg, I just had a chance to sit down and play Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout for the Wii this past weekend and I did enjoy it. The game doesn’t utilize the Wii Balance Board as much as I would like, but consequently it can be played without purchasing the Wii Fit program. So if you’re looking for a fitness game to get you started with the Wii, for $30.00 (or less if you buy from Amazon) you can’t go wrong with this game.
I’m working on writing up a full review of the game this week, but I need to get a few more hours of game play in before I can complete the review. Bottom line though is if you want to buy a Wii without spending the extra $90 on a Wii Fit this game will be a fitness game, especially if your wife has any interest in cardio boxing or has done kick boxing in the past.
After reading this article, I just feel that I really need more info. How do you like Golds Gym Cardio Workout now that it has been released?
Now that the game has been release, please be sure to read my Full Review. I discuss the best features of the game including Duuble Wii Remote Style and Utilizing the Wii Balance Board.
