Oregon Park Disc Golf
Oregon Park is located off of Old Hamilton Rd in Marietta, GA and is one of the nicest Disk Golf courses for beginners in the Metro-Atlanta area. Like many parks, the Disc Golf course at Oregon Park is free to use as long as you bring your own discs. I only played through 9 holes of the course just from walking from hole to hole I went about 3/4 of a mile. Between the walking and running up to throw the disc I’d estimate that I burnt around 200 calories. While it certainly wasn’t a vigorous workout it was a fun way to get outside and do something fit.
My favorite thing about this Disc Golf course is how wide open it is. While there is the occasional tree, there are few pricker bushes or streams to avoid. Since I’m still a disc golf novice this made it much funner for me since I didn’t spend any time trying to find my disc in the kudzu or pricker bush after. I found that each hole was laid out very well and it was easy to find where you’re going next. Some other courses I’ve played required me to constantly look at a map. This course had arrows that pointed you in the direction of the next tee.
All in all it was a very productive way to spend an hour and a half. There were picnic benches so I could bring some lunch. I did get in some excerciese today so a day playing Disc Golf is certainly better than a day in front of the TV, especially after the not-so-healthy dinner I had on Friday night.
