With the New Year upon us I thought I’d start out the new version of my weight loss blog with a list of the reasons why I should excercise this year. I’ll use this as a reminder to myself as the year goes on so I remember why I need to excercise.

1. Exercise Promotes Weight Loss
It is well proven from scientific research all over the world that physical exercise contributes to weight loss. If you burn more calories than you consume through nutrition, you’ll lose weight.  When you exercise, you burn more calories than when you don’t.  It’s really simple – the more you exercise, the more weight or fat you’ll lose.

2. Exercise Prevents Disease (and heart disease runs in my family)
The chances of developing several various diseases has been proven to decrease when exercising.  These
diseases include heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and the stroke. Around 4 out of 5 deaths caused by heart disease and cancer, are linked to factors that include stress and lack of exercise. Since I’m at an increased risk of some of these diseases due to my family history it is important to start losing weight while I’m young. After all, if I don’t do it now then when will I?

3. Exercise Enhances My State of Mind
Everyone knows from the many scientific studies that regular exercising will lead to an increased release of endorphins in the body.  These chemicals will fight depression and make you feel happy.  The body releases these endorphins only 12 minutes into the workout. There is another chemical known as serotonin that
is increased during and after a workout.  The increased levels of serotonin in the central nervous system is associated with feelings of well being and decreased mental depression. With a new responsibilities at work this year I can use all of the stress relief I can get.

4.  Exercise Increases My Energy Level
Exercising regularly will give me more energy, which can help me be more productive at home and at work.  Exercising will give me new goals and a sense of purpose and give me something to focus on.  This will help me increase my persistence and prevent me from going off track while I aim at my weight loss goal.

5.  Exercise Increases my Social Capabilities
Working-out on a regular basis will help to boost my self esteem.  This will help me look better and I’ll have more confidence.  Exercise will also help me to become more active and meet new people and better relate to others in relationships because I’m more confident in myself.
