Stone Mountain Hike

Yesterday I went on a hike to Stone Mountain with a friend from work. For those of you that have been reading my blog all year, you know how much I enjoy outdoor activities. I’ve been very motivated for the past week, this deal with my girlfriend has really helped me. I knew I needed a moral boost while she was away on vacation, and this seems to be doing the trick. I weight in today and I’m down to 224.6 pounds. I’m half way there right at the half way point! As long as I keep this up I will be able to lose the 10 pounds in 2 weeks.

I really believe that this has been the push I needed to restart my weight loss plans. It has motivated my to get back out and be active. I’ve rollerbladed frequently for the past week, and have been on a few hikes. If I keep this up I’ll be thin for my family reunion at the end of July. The hike today was pretty spectacular. I knew Stone Mountain was a lot of rocks, but I didn’t realize we would basically be hiking up one big rock.

As we got higher up the mountain there was an amazing view of Atlanta. It is so different to look at the city from this perspective; it is a stark remind of how small we all are. As we got higher and higher the wind really picked up. By the time we reached the top of the mountain we were having difficulty walking. I felt like if I jumped in the air I would be blown off the mountain.

After living in the Atlanta area for a year and a half I’ve finally made it to stone mountain for a hike. I’m very proud of myself, and can’t wait to go back. Maybe when my mother comes to visit in June I’ll take her to see it.
